Which car brands will be all electric?

Some brands have already made a decision to all-electric. Today, the list of vehicle brands that are transitioning to all-electric models is growing. Just last year, the top five automobile brands were Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Audi, Jaguar, and Tesla. However, you may be wondering which other brands will also make the switch to all-electric. Here are a few more brands that are working towards transitioning to all-electric vehicles.

Tesla

With Tesla, you can choose any car you want as long as it’s an S, X or 3. Other brands will require you to purchase an all-electric car through Tesla’s own showroom or website. The only catch is that the options are limited at the moment. If you want to buy a Tesla, you have to buy new. But in the near future, Tesla will sell used Tesla cars and you’ll be able to buy them from other dealers as well.

Nissan

In the not-so-distant future, we could be driving electric cars from all the major carmakers. In fact, the Nissan Leaf is the one model to have recently achieved mass-market appeal. It’s been incredibly successful for Nissan, and the brand is slowly and steadily adding more models to its growing electric car line-up.

BMW

Not all brands are jumping on the electric bandwagon. In fact, some of the biggest automakers have gone the opposite route and have been investing in developing more conventional vehicles. However, if you’re looking to buy a new car, it’s a good idea to consider the brands that are likely to be all electric in the near future.

Mercedes-Benz

The future of electric cars will likely be dominated by the big three: Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi. While all three German brands are slowly adding more electric models to their lineups, they still only account for a portion of their overall sales. In the future, however, Mercedes, BMW, and Audi will likely make up the vast majority of new electric cars on the road.

Ford

The electric car industry is growing and, although it’s still small when it comes to the overall auto market share, there are a number of brands that are making the jump to all-electric cars. These brands include the big-hitters like Tesla, along with newcomers Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and Jaguar.

Volkswagen

If you like the idea of an electric car but aren’t yet ready to walk the talk, consider these brands. They’re developing cars that will eventually be all electric or will have a hybrid option. Some are still in the development stage while others are beginning to roll out to the public. As the technology continues to improve, these brands will likely be the first to break the mold when it comes to all-electric cars.

General Motors

General Motors is making a big push for electric vehicles and recently invested $500 million into developing a new battery technology. The investment will help the company create future electric cars with longer ranges. Currently, the automaker is working on a future Chevy Bolt, which will be a smaller, more affordable electric vehicle. The company is also working on a future Cadillac EV that will be a high-end electric ride.

Conclusion

Of course, there will always be individual exceptions to the rule, but in general you can count on the major car brands to be all-electric in the near future, if not already. Mercedes-Benz, Audi, BMW, and Tesla are all heavily committed to all-electric cars, and will be the first to release mainstream electric vehicles to the general public.
